Stone Federation GB Stone Federation Uk

Stone Restoration Services are proud members of The Stone Federation Great Britain (SFGB). The Stone Federation is the official Trade Association for the Natural Stone Industry.

The Federation co-ordinates all aspects of the industry and provides specifiers and users with a first point of contact for information, advice and guidance in sourcing an appropriate material and a reliable service.

The Federation's objectives are:

  • To promote the use of natural stone as a building material in favour of other building materials.
  • To increase the market share of natural stone for SFGB members.
  • To promote and maintain the traditional skills involved in natural stone.

Stone Restoration Services are proud to represent the Industry on the committee for the Stone Industry Training Group. Our input to such a valued training group ensures future development for all members of the stone industry.

Experience amongst members of the Stone Industry is vital to the continued growth and quality training available.

The group is responsible for some of the newest most exciting training courses/ NVQs and other assessments imperative for ensuring the Stone Industry remains with quality craftsmen.

ConstructionLine

ConstructionLine

Constructionline is owned and endorsed by the Department of Trade & Industry

It's essential today for both clients and contractors to have access to a reliable, qualified database. Constructionline already has this ability and provides us with an excellent interface with our public sector clients .

A full assessment of the Company - its financial status, H&S records, Environmental Policy and lots of other pre-qualification criteria must be assessed prior to being accepted as a Constructionline member which allows recognition and credibility.

CHAS: Construction Health & Safety Assessment Scheme - Member CHAS logo

Stone Restoration Services are committed to the continued investment in Health and Safety - in addition to annual external verifications and audits undertaken by CHAS, Insurance assessors and Constructionline its own Management team also include IOSH Technicians and Nebosh assessed safety inspectors ensuring the day to day monitoring of all Health and Safety on site.

Construction Skills (CITB)

Stone Restoration Services are levy paying members of Construction Skills (CITB) and work closely with them in devising up and coming training courses via NSITG.

A full training and development plan is in place for all our employees. Ongoing assessments also ensure personnel remain competent and licensed for every activity they may be required to do.

CSCS (Construction Skills Card Scheme) CSCS

Stone Restorations have worked hard and are proud to be one of only a few Construction Company's to have achieved the Gold Status (top award for the highest % of CSCS card holders available).

We are also satisfied that 95% of our employees hold CSCS cards which are either experienced workers, time served apprentices or NVQ assessed - only new apprentices hold a general or apprentice card which we achieve a two year turn around to fully qualified (or less if employee has worked in the industry previously).

The Worshipful Company of Masons

Originally formed in medieval times as a trade guild to the City of London to regulate the quality of stone buildings in the City the main activities are now to ensure support for apprentices and trainees in the craft of stonemasonry. In 2007 the Company of Masons also recognised skilled stonemasons and craftsmen - this year promoting the Natural Stone Awards and Duke of Gloucester awards - for which Stone Restorations were nominated for their work at Museum of Childhood.

SPAB: Society for Protection of Ancient Buildings SPAB

SPAB is involved in all aspects of the survival of buildings which are old or interesting- the skill lies in mending them with the minimum loss of fabric - old buildings cannot be preserved by making them new.

Stone Restoration Services work alongside SPAB to ensure that we are studying, developing and improving ways of "restoration" work to return an old building to a perfect state.
