The Shellmex building called not just upon Stone Restoration Services' restoration skills but also their knowledge of strict working practice
Work carried out:
Stone and Brick Repairs
Glazed Brickwork Cleaning
Shell Mex House Strand London: An art Deco style building designed by Ernest Joseph a Jewish architect who was a leading designer of synagogues in 1931.
Standing 58 m (190 ft) tall the iconic Shellmex house is a landmark along London’s River Thames with its famous clock face still proudly being viewed by thousands daily.
Stone Restoration Services were appointed to complete stone/brick repairs and external glazed brickwork cleaning.
The famous clock had seen years of damage and the sympathetic restoration of the stonework was critical to ensure the preservation of the façade. The size of the building would have entailed a huge scaffold which would have been deemed uneconomical.
Stone Restoration’s completed all works using cradles and rope access.
The Health and Safety requirements were paramount and works were completed safely whilst ensuring quality completion.
